Palmswift Guest House is in the picturesque village of Winterton,
which is situated in the Central
Drakensberg area. It is called the Palmswift Guest House as there is
an enormous palm at the entrance of the house in which these particular swifts
nest.
The first thing people comment on, on entering the property is the incredible
number of trees and their amazing size. The greenery and shade provide an
atmosphere of tranquility and the feeling of being in the country. Palmswift
Guesthouse .
The
guesthouse is large and has 3 bedrooms. The Blue room has 2 single beds,
a small sitting room looking onto a section of the garden and its own bathroom
with a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The Green room has a queen bed and
a small sitting room. It also has it's own outside entrance. The Peach room
has 2 single beds and is spacious.
The Green and Peach rooms share a bathroom
that has a shower, toilet and basin. At present, none of the bedrooms have
their own TV or radio. The rooms are colourful but simply and tastefully
furnished. The dining room and casual / TV room are combined and look out
onto the sunny side of the garden. This is a spacious room, providing a very
relaxed and sociable atmosphere.
Breakfast is included and
later picnic hamper and supper will be available to you by arrangement. Breakfast
is served at any time convenient to you. We offer fresh and stewed fruit,
cereals, yoghurt, fresh bread and muffins and bacon & egg with grilled
tomato. If the weather is suitable, breakfast may be eaten outside in the
peaceful garden. Laundry can be done by arrangement. Braai (barbeque) facilities
are available if you don't want to eat out, with crockery and cutlery available
for your use. Or use t5he microwave or stove to warm a take-away. Being in
the Central Drakensberg area we are perfectly situated for a variety of tourist
sights, historical sights as well as sporting facilities. Spioenkop
Nature Reserve and Dam, the Boer War Battlefields, museums, excellent golf courses,
river rafting, offroad karting, quad biking, hiking and many other facilities
are all within 15 to 30 minutes from our guest house.
There
are also many other interesting drives and sights further away that provide
interesting day-outings. These include sights and activities in the Northern
Drakensberg and the Midlands
Meander of KwaZulu-Natal. At present 2 more
rooms are being renovated. They are attached to the main house, but each
has it's own entrance and bathroom facilities. These will be completed by
the beginning of July. The total number of adults we will be able to accommodate
10 and is therefore suitable for small tour groups or individual groups.
